REVIEW,EOTD: Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo EyeShadow- Audacious Asphalt

Hello everyone J
I’m reviewing the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo eye shadow in Audacious Asphalt. I had bought this on Sunday.
According to Maybelline’s website,
  • 24hr intensity. Tattoo tenacity. Dare to wear our longest-lasting shadow.
  • Our ink technology creates super-saturated color.
  • Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant color that does not fade.
  • In 8 shades.

Expert Tip

For a High impact look – Illuminate. With fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards. For added drama, darken as desired.

Shades available:
Audacious asphalt,Bad to the bronze,Bold gold,Edgy emerald,Firce and tangy,Painted purple,Pomegranate punk,Tenacious teal
You can see my swatches for them here.
Price: INR 350 for 4g.
Available at all Maybelline NY outlets.
My experience:
For me, it was truly “love at first sight” with these cream eyeshadows, for a number of reasons.

When the SA first swatched them on my hand and then removed them with some oil based remover, they almost refused to budge initially. I was so surprised at the strength of these. J

And then the colours … all of them are so pretty, except maybe the fierce and tangy one. It’s a bright orange-ish shade which is quite unwearable, for me at least. Also, painted purple. Besides these two, I plan to buy all of the colours J
Then the ease of cream shadows… I have never tried powder shadows only because of the fear I have inside me about blending!
And when I applied these on my eyelids, I fell in love again. Never in my life have I managed to make my eyes look even remotely as good as this!
So there now you know how much of an amateur I am at makeup.
These eye shadows come in a glass jar with a black screw top lid. The jar is quite sturdy and travel friendly. But you should be careful not to drop it, since its glass.
These can be used as an all over lid colour as well as a base for other shadows.
I applied this with my fingers and at blended it at the crease with the brush I got with this shadow. Very very easy application.

But yes, you need to remember they dry very quickly. So, work with it as quickly as you can.

After I had applied it, it stayed on my eyelids with the same intensity till I removed it, 5 hours later.
Exactly the same intensity, no fading, no creasing.
But yes, this aspect is a pro as well as a con that they have to be removed with a lot of hard work. A good oil based makeup remover is needed. I used Maybelline’s lip and eye makeup remover.
Also, the shimmerfrom the shadow kindof spread everywhere while removing. But this may be because this particular shade has quite a lot of shimmer. I haven’t tried the other shades yet.
Coming to this particular colour, audacious asphalt. It’s a grayish colour with a lot of shimmer. It’s great for a smokey eye as base or alone. Personally, I would not prefer it for day wear, to office or something because of the shimmer in it. It’s absolutely great for parties J
All in all, they are wonderful eye shadows at quite a reasonable price. A must have in every girl’s makeup. J
