Those who read my blog regularly would know by now how I love my lip balms. 😛
I have so many of them and yet I feel I never have enough when I see I new one. Hehe…
I read about these lip balms here. And fell in
lust love right there. And then checked out The Body Shop’s Indian site and found out they’re out in stores!!! Was I happy? 😀
It retails for Rs.400/-. I got it for Rs.340/- with 15% off. Yes, it’s expensive for a lip balm.
I bought two lip balms from the holiday collection – Vanilla Bliss and Cranberry Joy here. (The third fragrance this holiday season is Ginger Sparkle.)
I am reviewing them separately and today I’ll just review Vanilla Bliss.
Firstly, the packaging. It is adorable. J
I have never used a balm of this shape/kind before. It is really cute. It can be applied directly on the lips. But it’s quite wide and might be weird for very thin-lipped ladies. And also I guess after some time the dome would become flat and then we’ll just have to apply this with our fingers like a regular balm in a tub. But till then I find it fine to apply this directly. J
The outer packaging is quite plain yet attractive with a golden-ish base and transparent cap. Seeing the pictures, I initially thought the cap might just be a open and close lid but it’s a screw top thing which fits quite nicely so no problem of the cap opening in our bags and the balm getting spoilt. It is also small enough to fit in your smallest clutch or handbag or office desk. J
For your reference I compared the size to a few items, the size of the base is almost equal to a Rs.2 coin or the cap of the Maybelline gel eyeliner.
Coming to this particular scent – Vanilla Bliss – its heavenly J it smells of rich warm vanilla. I like it much much better than other vanilla scents I’ve used. (to name a few – TBS vanilla body butter duo and Original source Vanilla and Raspberry body wash).
It kindof smells like stuff from a warm bakery. Of freshly made cakes and pastries. J Very very delicious scent. I think the words used by TBS to describe the scent – “delicious flavor” and “rich vanilla scent” are quite apt. I feel it’s a scent that most people would love, but that’s just my opinion. I would love to try something other than this too from the Vanilla Bliss scent, maybe their body polish.
On application it’s not extremely smooth like other stick lip balms (like the cocoa butter lip balm or Maybelline baby lips or nivea lip balms) but not harsh either.
The balm is totally transparent with tiny glitter particles. These glitter particles translate to the lips very lightly. They give a soft shimmer which is almost negligible. In fact they would be visible only when seen from a very close distance. And as TBS puts it this lip balm is “perfect for mistle toe moments”. 😉 I agree there. 😛
I took a swatch on my hand, but nothing showed up in the pictures so didn’t put it here.
The staying power is quite decent. You can spot some glitter even after 2hours. But I really like applying this again and again. It’s a lot of fun 😛
This balm is not highly moisturizing. But it definitely makes my lips feel softerafter I apply this. Frankly speaking I don’t think this is even supposed to be a very hydrating kindof a lip balm. Even the claims put up by the brand do not say so.
Overall, I would say it’s a fun lip balm with its glitter particles and cute packaging adding a whole lot to the festive holiday spirit. It has decent moisturizing properties. And absolutely great for gifting someone. I love it for its fragrance and the soft shimmer it gives my lips. JBut it’s limited edition so catch it while you can. J
Why you’ll like it:
1) Adorable and convenient packaging.
2) Delicious scent.
3) Decent mosturization.
4) Has cute tiny glitter particles.
Why you’ll dislike it:
2) Limited edition.
To buy or not to buy?
It’s not at all a must buy product. But I feel that if you love cute little things and your budget allows you and you buy this, you won’t regret buying it as it’s just too cute. J 😀 so go ahead and go get yourself atleast one of the three. J
P.S. I know I’ve been reviewing a lottt of lip balms lately, but really, I have a lot of other reviews too in my drafts which I’ll definitely be posting once I get free from exams J
