I get very nostalgic whenever I see these sketch pen kindof eyeliners. About a year back, I used to envy girls who could apply that perfect eyeliner on their eyes. I practiced a lot with the Lakme Insta liner but never never got it right. Not even once. It was so heart-breaking. I thought I can never get those perfectly defined eyes. Then I saw this VOV sketch pen type liner in my local cosmetics shop, it was being sold for Rs.150/- which came down to Rs.100/- after bargaining. I bought it and voila! I got the perfect line with just 2-3 tries! And that’s why I love such marker style eyeliners. They give the finish of liquid eyeliners without the hassle of the brush and all. After mastering my eyeliner application with the VOV pen, I could now apply even the brush type conventional eyeliners with ease. And I never envied other girls since then. 😀
However much I love my gel and pencil eyeliners, liquid ones will always have a special place in my heart. I love the finish of liquid eyeliners. But yes, it requires quite a lot of patience to apply them even after I have mastered the application part. This is because just 1 slip and the liquid can spread everywhere.
When I spotted Colorbar’s Ultimate Eyeliner, I was very impressed with the packaging. It looks so classy. But I have way too many black eyeliners, so didn’t want another one. And then the SA showed me the two new colours – French Blue and Italian Green. The website is yet to show these two.
The two colours are gorgeous. I don’t wear green eyeliner too often and the blue looked too good to miss and that’s how I got the blue one. Phew! Long story 😛
The packaging is really classy. It’s a sleek black pen. The bottom of the pen is of the same colour as the eyeliner. I seriously love the packaging. 🙂
The tip is quite thin and it’s easy to draw thin lines.
The tip is very soft. It’s also quite flexible, so drawing thicker lines is also easy by bending it.
I got such a perfect wing with this liner, which I get quite rarely. It was really good going by my standards. 😛
One major con is that if you apply keeping it horizontal for long, the tip kindof dries up and you need to shake it and keep it vertical to allow easy flow of the eyeliner again.
I store this eyeliner with the tip side down in my eyeliner stand. It’s better to avoid storing it horizontal.
The eyeliner is quite pigmented and gives a good line in 1 swipe itself. The pigmentation can be built with 3-4 swipes easily.
The staying power of the eyeliner is great. I only tested it for 5 hours approx. and it stayed as it is without any flaking or smudging. I hate it when eyeliners flake off.
However, this eyeliner is far from being waterproof.
In the picture below, I have just kept my hand under running water and the eyeliner is washed off.
One soft rub with a finger, and it’s wiped off completely.
I wish it was waterproof. Then it would be the perfect eyeliner.
Overall, it’s a great eyeliner for beginners. Also, it’s great when you’re in a hurry and don’t have the time for the brushes et al. it has very good pigmentation and available in 2 lovely colours besides the usual black.
Why you’ll like it:
1) Very easy application.
2) Great for beginners.
3) Classy packaging.
4) Beautiful blue colour.
5) Smudge proof.
6) Stays for 5-6 hours.
7) Flexible tip.
Why you’ll dislike it:
1) Not at all waterproof.
3) Can dry up if kept with tip up.
To buy or not to buy?
Buy, I would definitely buy the Italian Green next.
I went out with my parents for a casual dinner and I wore this eyeliner today, alongwith Lakme Kohl Ultimate and Maybelline The Falsies Mascara.
Here is my Eye Of The Day…
Hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve. 🙂
