Okay, one confession – I am obsessed with this BB stick! And I became obsessed with this even before I had it with me. Suddenly, the BB stick was all over the internet since the past few weeks. I bought it last week, as you saw here. There’s a little story behind it. I told my friend I really want it, and told her to buy it for me if she finds it anywhere instantly. She ordered it on medplusbeauty and before it arrived I spotted it in a store and couldn’t resist myself and purchased it and the medplus order just came the next day. So, in short I got two of these 😛 and boy, am I glad? 😀
I’ve been using it for a week now and am here to review it today. You read my review on the Garnier BB cream here and once I finished the small tube I purchased the Maybelline BB cream and just when I was about to review it, this stick came out and as many people were asking to review this, I decided to review the stick first. I will also do a comparison post for you all soon.
Why am I rambling so much today!!! Okay, on with the review!
Talking about the packaging first, it’s a very cute little stick. The BB cream bullet doesn’t twist back in completely into the tube. Also, while twisting it inside sometimes it can get scratched by the edges of the tube. Like this –
But overall, the packaging is quite sturdy as the cap fits on tight and this stick is great for travelling and also for mid day touch ups.
At 250 bucks this stick is very reasonable I feel and the quantity would last a good amount of time.
A major drawback is that there are only 2 shades available – 02 Radiance (light) and 04 Fawn (dark). These two shades would definitely not cover all Indian skin tones, Maybelline should totally get some more shades.
Talking about my skin type, it’s a bit dry in winters but combination – oily in summers. This BB stick claims to have a shine-free effect and thus is good for combination – oily skin.
But yes, sometimes when my skin isn’t behaving and I have dry patches on my cheeks, it alone doesn’t moisturize them or anything. It can also emphasize the very-dry patches. But I don’t mind it because firstly I then use a good moisturizer underneath this and secondly, it’s claiming to keep us shine free, nowhere does it say it will moisturize too! So, all’s well 😀
One thing I would like to mention is that it has a weird smell to it, some chemically smell. It is very mild and doesn’t bother, but it is there. On application, it just fades away so it’s not really a problem.
When I first saw pictures of this BB stick online, I kindof had a picture in my mind that the texture of the stick would be stiff and maybe a little hard to blend. Maybe like Colorbar stick concealer, but when the SA first rubbed it on my hand I was really bowled over, it was so so soft. It’s a dream to apply. Blending is even easier as this thing just melts into my skin. I just apply this on my face and with my fingers, it gets blended effortlessly. I love love love its texture. Very quickly, it settles to a powdery finish which is semi-matte.
It smoothens out my skin very well. It also somewhat conceals my dark circles and evens out my skin tone very well. I only have very few visible pores around the nose which, let me tell you, were covered very well by this stick and I loved the effect on them. It remains true to its claims of not clogging pores. It feels very light on the skin.
It does control shine from my forehead for about 4 – 5 hours after which I feel it has worn off. It also makes my face look a little radiant and nice. *happy happy me*
Just yesterday, I came back from college very tired and found out that I need to go to some relative’s place. Since I don’t use any foundation and only use compact for my face and nowadays BB creams, I cleaned my face and applied this BB stick and to be honest I couldn’t have looked more awake and fresh with anything else.
Another con I find is that the packaging isn’t the most hygienic, using the same surface again and again, the top can get dirty so I would recommend not sharing this stick and using your own only.
I already have two of these right now, but when I finish these, I would gladly repurchase 🙂
Wearing only Maybelline BB stick in Radiance on face and Lakme eyeconic kajal and Maybelline Touch of toffee lip gloss. The BB stick has covered my dark circles pretty well !!
Please ignore my hair, they were still wet!
Overall, it’s essentially a BB cream in a stick form which is a dream to apply with its exceptionally soft texture and good pigmentation. It covers blemishes and dark circles well and makes the skin tone even. It keeps oil and shine away from the face for 4-5 hours easily and makes face look fresh and radiant as it claims! At the price, it’s a must try for everyone and hope you all find your shade match 😀
